Crail is a historic fishing village in the East Neuk of Fife in Scotland. It’s known for its picturesque harbour, historical and natural landmarks. Caddyshacks is located in the heart of the village with easy access to many attractions. Crail is also well positioned to take full advantage of the world class golf courses in Fife and Angus.

ACCOMODATION

Like Caddyshacks Gullane, Caddyshacks Crail will undergo a full transformation into a bespoke holiday home. The property will be finished to a high standard and provide well-appointed accommodation for golf groups, families and friends visiting the area. The floorplan is still to be finalized. THE GOLF

Caddyshacks Crail is located on the “golden fringed” coastline of Fife. It sits roughly equidistant between the world-renowned St Andrews Links, and the lesser-known gems of Dumbarnie and Lundin links. Crail Golfing Society was established in 1786. Crail’s Balcomie links was laid out by Old Tom Morris in 1894. The Craighead course was added in 1998 by Gil Hanse.

The Home of Golf

Scotland and St Andrews links are known worldwide as the home of golf. There are more than 40 golf courses in Fife. St Andrews Old Course needs no introduction as the oldest course and consistently ranks in the top 5 best courses in the world. Kingsbarns Links is another top 100 course that is located nearby,  Dumbarnie Links is the newest addition and is sure to rise the ranks. Fife is also home to Scotscraig and Ladybank golf courses which are highly regarded heathland courses. Next door in Angus within easy driving distance is Carnoustie Golf Links, an Open Championship course also ranked in the top 100 in the world.

Championship Golf

St Andrews Old Course will host the 150th Open Championship in 2022, it will be its 30th time to host it. The Women’s Open Championship has been held there twice, and it will host it again in 2024. Carnoustie has hosted the men’s open 8 times and the women’s open twice. Kingsbarns hosted the women’s open in 2017. The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is a European PGA tour event held at Kingsbarns, Carnoustie and The Old Course.

ATTRACTIONS

Crail is a historic coastal village in Fife that is recognized as one of the prettiest seaside villages in Britain. 

Caddyshacks is in a prime location within Crail on Marketgate across the street from the Tolbooth and close to many other historical landmarks such as Crail’s Museum and Heritage Centre, Parish Church, and harbour. A 2-minute walk along St Andrews Road to the North is a park with a children’s play area, tennis courts, a 5-a-side football pitch and skate park. Immediately West of Caddyshacks is the High Street which has a good selection of traditional shops, including a baker, chemist, and butcher.

The Fife Coastal Path passes through Crail, which is a great way to explore the stunning coastline. Boat trips to the Isle of May to view the bird colonies and marine wildlife are available departing from Anstruther. There are many attractions in the area such as castles, whisky distilleries, and excellent dining options including Michelin star restaurants.
